What is the New System to Track Train Status by IRCTC?

IRCTC has lately introduced the all-new train tracking system for its passengers. This time, the Indian Railways has come up with a new system to enhance the overall convenience of its passengers. Through this system, passengers can now track the live train running status of the entire network of Indian Railways. In addition to the ease of IRCTC train booking, reliable platforms like Trainman also facilitate the tracking of train status to enhance the journeys of travelers.

Through this system, the Indian Railways has linked its entire set of rail network and locomotives through the satellites of ISRO or Indian Space Research Organization. Therefore, it has now become easier for Indian Railways to track the ongoing train status while automatically feeding the respective control charts about the arrivals as well as departures of the train. The information is derived depending on RTIS or Real-time Information System in an automatic fashion.

How to Track Train Status by IRCTC?

This is an all-new offering by the Indian Railways. The railway network has explained the process of tracking train status like the information regarding the movement of the train is tracked with the help of Indian satellites. The information is then provided to the control charts of the ISRO.

The system had been implemented in the network of Indian Railways on 8th January, 2019. The technology has been implemented on several trains across the country like the routes of Delhi-Jammu, Delhi-Amritsar, Delhi-Bandra, and Delhi-Patna. The all-new system is indeed going to modernize and revolutionize the entire Indian Railways network as it aims at making the railway system highly efficient.

Previously, all the tracking tasks were performed manually. With rapid digitization, systems have become increasingly automatic without requiring any manual intervention. The move by the Indian Railways is aimed at providing the accuracy of information related to train running. The network has explained how the entire system aims at working. RTIS devices have been installed in different locomotives for detecting the speed as well as position of the train with the help of GAGAN -the advanced geo-positioning system developed by ISRO.

Depending on the logic and information available, the device transmits information like train movement along with updates like departure, arrival, mid-section updates, and unscheduled stoppages. The information is transferred to the COA or Control Office Application system for automatic plotting of control charts.
